Several years ago, with the explosion in popularity for the use of influencer marketing as a brand tactic, the Federal Trade Commission began publishing FTC Influencer Guidelines. As the industry evolves, the FTC has updated their guidelines several times in reaction to what’s happening in the marketplace.
If you are an influencer or a brand that partners with influencers for marketing initiatives, it is critical to stay up to date on the evolving guidelines.
In November of 2019, the FTC released new guidelines that focus on:
- When to disclose
- How to disclose
It is important to ensure a clear understanding of these guidelines and the appropriate use of disclosure for influencer content. We are constantly updating our SheSpeaks Influencer Programs to reflect updated FTC guidelines, so if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
