Survey Results: Spring 2025 Shopper Insights & Social Media Habits
Spring is almost here, and that means shopping season is in full bloom. We recently tapped into the SheSpeaks Community to get their shopper insights on what they’re focused on cleaning out, what’s catching their shopping eye, and where / how they’re purchasing this season.
And, with the continued uncertainty around the future of TikTok, we asked some questions about how their social media usage is changing.
The survey results from nearly 1,300 shoppers are in. So if your brand operates in a key spring shopping category check out our findings below. And, take a look back at our study from December of last year with 2025 shopper predictions from our community members.
What’s Hot This Spring?
Clothing and accessories lead the way (75%), with shoppers planning to revamp their wardrobe with new pieces. Beauty and skincare remain a priority for 61% of respondents, while 49% are focused on home improvement. Gardening supplies are also making a strong showing, proving people are ready to get their hands dirty and give their outdoor spaces some love.
Where Are People Shopping?
In-store shopping is still a favorite, with 82% choosing to browse and buy in person. However, 67% plan to head to websites for convenience and a wider selection. Marketplaces like Amazon and eBay are popular (53%), and shopping directly on social platforms still has a lot of potential to grow (see below).
Spring Spending: Save or Splurge?
Most people (62%) are planning to keep their spring spending about the same as last year—no big splurges yet. But 13% are feeling ready to spend a little more if the right deals pop up. Discounts, product reviews, and eco-friendly options are still the big things that influence what they buy.
Spring Cleaning & Home Refresh
Spring cleaning is top of mind for 67% of shoppers, with many focusing on decluttering everything from closets to outdoor areas. It’s not just about tidying up, though—people are looking to breathe new life into their spaces. Whether it’s updating home decor or sprucing up the yard, everyone seems ready for a refresh and to enjoy a fresh, clean slate this spring.
Social Shopping Offers a Big Opportunity
Social platforms continue to shape how people shop, as 60% of shoppers say product reviews and unboxing videos influence their purchases. Yet, only 31% report having purchased something directly through a social platform. They’re open to purchasing on social, and the top reported ways to incentivize purchase through socials are exclusive promotions (60%) and sharing more trustworthy reviews (45%).
TikTok and X Usage Down, YouTube and Instagram on the Rise
The uncertainty around TikTok’s future is continually in the news, and it seems to be turning users off slightly, with 19% reporting that their TikTok usage has decreased in the last month alone. Similarly, X (formerly Twitter) saw less usage in the past month by 25% of respondents. At the same time, YouTube (25%) and Instagram (23%) were on the rise, suggesting that utilizing multiple platforms is undoubtedly the way to go.
